Mylar® and Melinex® polyester films for Applied Window Films

High-clarity/high-performance Mylar® and Melinex® polyester films manufactured by DuPont Teijin Films are used to produce window films that enhance the properties of glass.

These films are then laminated and coated using special adhesives, ultraviolet (UV) inhibitors, and protective, scratch-resistant coatings by our customers. Some window films are also metallized for specialized color and solar energy rejection properties.

The outlook has never been brighter for window film. The largest market, automotive applications, continues to grow. What’s more, architectural applications, presently a significantly smaller market, will experience even greater growth. The driving force is a substantial increase in applications in buildings to conserve energy and block UV light to fight damage to furnishings caused by fading. In addition to these solid benefits, films that help contain broken glass have been developed to enhance safety and security. Installations of these films are bound to grow with increasing concerns over safety and security in both the private and public sectors.
